Yes, it’s that time again. If you’re like us, you’re asking yourself, “How is this possible?”
Cobb County started on Monday, Atlanta Public Schools started back today, and Fulton, Dekalb, Gwinnett and others are following next week. It’s official; summer is over!
As a parent this can bring a lot of mixed emotions. If your child is joining us this school year, not only does he/she have school to get used to, but also a new after-school activity. It’s our goal to make sure this transition is as seamless as possible, and to ensure your child is having a great time!
PBS has a great article with tips to ensure you’re helping your child have a seamless transition:
Studio Go utilizes many of the same tactics as well. For instance:
-Meeting the teacher: Our teachers always try to be at a location’s open house. This way your child can meet his/her teacher and feel comfortable. If for some reason the teacher is teaching at that time, your location doesn’t have an open house, or you couldn’t make it, we send a welcome packet. Part of this has a picture of your child’s teacher, as well as her contact information. We understand that the parents don’t always get to meet the teacher in this type of program. Therefore, we always want you to have a friendly face to put with a name.
-Familiarity: Luckily, our classes our held in the comfort and familiarity of your child’s school. This is half the battle of helping them feel comfortable. In addition, we try to put students in classes with familiar faces (when possible) in order to make everyone happy.
-Downtime: At many locations our classes run through the summer. We think it’s important to have a small break in-between the two sessions. Even if it’s just a week, it allows the children the reset and get acclimated to a new school year.
-Being prepared: How exciting it is for little ones to get their first dance outfit! We give you all of the information that you need in order to be ready for that first dance class. In addition, we also sell dancewear on our website that ships directly to you.
We hope that you enjoyed the article and tips for a successful back to school transition. We can’t wait to get started and look forward to a wonderful year of dance!
